Heart disease is nothing to take lightly. Through lifestyle choices, weight problems, and even genetics, anyone can develop heart disease. To protect your heart and maintain good health, it’s important to monitor the state of your heart’s health. For example, a cardiac PET imaging test can help reveal the state of your heart disease. It can also inform both doctors and you about the next steps that you need to take in order to stay healthy. When going to your PET-MRI scan in California, there are a few things you should keep in mind. Here’s how to prepare for your scan.
1. Inform the Doctor About Any Metal in Your Body
The first step that you should take is to inform your doctor about any metal that exists in your body. This could be a peacemaker, stints, or any other metallic object that was inserted into your body. A cardiac PET imaging scan can interfere with those metallic objects. They may distort the image from the scan, or the magnet can interfere with the metal in your body.
2. Don’t Wear Jewelry
Similar to having metal in your body, you should also remove any jewelry or metal that you have on the exterior of your body before the start of the test. Rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and essentially anything that has metal should be removed before your scan begins.
3. Eat and Drink
Luckily, you don’t have to worry about eating or drinking when it comes to MRI scans. You can eat and drink normally. It won’t interfere with the MRI image nor will it impact you negatively. MRI machines are safe and easy to use when all of the safety measures have been adhered to.
