Plantar fasciitis: Plantar fasciitis happens when the ligament that goes from the bottom of your heel to just under your toes becomes inflamed. This inflammation is caused by repetitive stress and stretching and can cause tears in the tissue. Pain from plantar fasciitis is marked by a stabbing sensation by the heel. The pain is usually worse in the morning. Treatment includes rest, physical therapy, and steroid injections.
